Telomeres and telomerase

Overview: Our group seeks to understand the full roles of telomeres and telomerase in cell processes. Research: Our research program centers on telomeres, the structures stabilizing the ends of the eukaryotic chromosomes, the enzyme telomerase, and their organismal roles. The mechanisms of telomere and telomerase functions are under study in my laboratory in organisms from yeasts to humans, and in cancers. Our collaborative studies focus on the the roles of the telomere maintenance system in human health and in disease processes.
