We study how asymmetric cell division generates daughter cells with distinct fates. By combining quantitative imaging, developmental and synthetic biology, in vitro reconstitution, structural biology and new imaging technologies, we investigate how polarity cues organize cytoskeletal tracks and how molecular motors use these networks to deliver endosomes containing the correct fate determinants to one daughter cell.
