Our laboratory studies the biogenesis and function of the photosynthetic apparatus using mainly the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model system. We address the dynamics of photosynthesis in response to changes in environmental cues and we study the cross-talk between the nucleo-cytosol and the chloroplast that sets the major regulation steps in chloroplast gene expression and protein assembly in the photosynthetic membranes.
