Our group studies different aspects of malaria parasite biology with a focus on parasite transmission to and from mosquitoes. We mainly use a rodent-infecting malaria parasite to investigate membrane or cytoskeleton-associated proteins and their roles in parasite formation and motility. We employ reverse genetics to modify or delete genes and state-of-the-art microscopy to understand function and to explore new types of experimental vaccines.
