We study expression, structure, function, cell biology and evolution of transporters. Aspergillus nidulans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae serve as model systems for dissecting structure-function relationships underlying transporter function, specificity and molecular evolution, and identifying molecular mechanisms involved in membrane trafficking, endocytosis and protein turnover. We also perform in-silico modeling of purine transporters for rational antifungal drug design.
