Our aim is to understand the biophysical principles underlying the unique material properties of mammalian cells and tissues using principles of biophysics, biochemistry, synthetic biology and mechanobiology. We focus on the roles of the cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. We use our biophysical expertise to understand the role of aberrant mechanics in cancer metastasis, fibrosis, and osteoarthritis.
Keywords: biophysics of living matter / mechano-biology / synthetic biology / cytoskeleton / cytoskeletal contractility / cytoskeletal filaments / membrane mechanics
