The causes and consequences of genetic variation

My group works on the molecular and evolutionary processes that shape genetic variation and how such variation affects phenotype. Topics include recombination hotspots, natural selection, the mutation rate, the role of HLA in complex disease and genealogical processes. I have played leading roles in the HapMap and 1000 Genomes Projects and currently work on organisms from HIV to malaria.
