The effort of my lab is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mode of action of bacterial protein toxins, such as pore-forming toxins or anthrax toxin. We broadened these studies to understanding the physiological role of the anthrax toxin receptors. Mutations in one of these leads to a severe autosomal recessive disorder called Hyaline Fibromatosis Syndrome, of which we wish to determine the molecular basis.
