My group is interested in the molecular determinants underlying pathogenicity and host range of influenza viruses with specific focus on (1) the role of proteolytic activation of the hemagglutinin and the host proteases involved, (2) the interaction ot the virus with host receptors, and (3) the interaction of the viral polymerase with the nuclear transport machinery.
