Polyploidization and polyploidy reversal are two critical pathways in polyploid tissues to alter genome content in an opposite way. To date, research has mainly focused on the mechanism of polyploidization; however, there are still no comprehensive studies on polyploidy reversal. We try to address the mechanisms underlying genome content switch, which would potentially contribute to the treatment and prevention of related diseases.
