Ion channels allow the flux of specific ions across biological membranes and crucially regulate cell function. Our projects aim to provide decisive information about the molecular identity and (patho)physiological roles of different ion channels in bioenergetic organelles, by combining biophysics, cell biology and genetic models. In addition, we pharmacologically target mitochondrial ion channels against various human diseases.
