Astrocytes and neurons in high brain function

My lab studies the role of astrocytes, and their effect on neurons, in high brain functions. For example, we study the role of neuromodulation by astrocytes of the various basic processes essential for recent and remote memory, and the neuronal engrams underlying them. Similarly, we investigate astrocytes in the processes essential for reward in known environments (visual, auditory), where dopamine is not supposed to be involved.
