Bioenergetics and biocatalysis in anaerobes

My group is interested in the microbial physiology of anaerobes, and particularly in their bioenergetics and evolution. We study metabolic pathways and sulfur metabolism, mainly in sulfate reducing bacteria, which are key players in anaerobic environments. We also study applications of anaerobes in renewable energy production and bioremediation, including the mechanism and engineering of enzymes for CO2 reduction and H2 production.
