Our research focuses on understanding the extent and impact of somatic evolution in normal tissues, cancer, ageing and other diseases. Our past work includes the discovery that ageing tissues are a patchwork of microscopic mutant clones, and the development of methods detecting somatic mutations down to single molecules of DNA. Our current work includes studies on the role of somatic mutations in ageing and chronic diseases.
