My lab is exploring how organs sense change and respond to it: the molecules, cellular events and physiological adaptations involved. Focusing on the digestive system and its neurons, we have shown that the intestine differs between the sexes, is resized and reprogrammed during reproduction, and uses its neurons to orchestrate metabolic adaptations to malnutrition and reproduction.
