Our lab studies aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (AARSs), the key enzymes in genetic code translation. We aim to understand the mechanisms controlling AARS high fidelity and bacterial responses to translational errors. We are particularly interested in studying AARS editing and its role in safeguarding the standard genetic code. We explore AARSs as antibiotic targets and the mechanisms through which these enzymes evolve resistance.
