My lab studies the early mammalian embryo and embryo-derived stem cells. We combine genetics with experimental manipulation and single cell genomics to explore the molecular events that separate pluripotent cells from the cells that give rise to the placenta. We also use human pluripotent stem cells to model lung disease. Ethical issues relating to human embryo research and gene editing are also a major interest.
