My group is interested in synaptic transmission and plasticity. We study kainate receptors, that mediate part of the synaptic transmission at certain central synapses and presynaptically modulate transmitter release. These receptors are ion channels, but also activate a non-canonical signalling pathway, involving second messengers. My group seeks to identify the elements involved in this action and their involvement in brain physiopathology.
