Our lab has developed the mammalian dentition as a model system in linking developmental and evolutionary biology research. We are interested in how different signaling pathways regulate evolutionarily important aspects of shape. We link our developmental biology studies to evolution through quantitative and computational models on patterning. Currently we are using genomic data to examine tooth shape evolution in mammals, particularly seals.
