My lab studies how cells tolerate replication impediments and how this drives mutagenesis and epimutagenesis. We investigate how genome organisation shapes mutagenesis, how mutagenesis drives genome evolution, and the principles governing genome function. We also apply these insights, and our genome engineering expertise, through the Synthetic Human Genome project (SynHG), which is developing methods for large-scale human genome synthesis.
