My group studies calcium-regulated early signaling involved in the rapid activation of plant immunity against insect herbivores. We have identified the role of Cyclic Nucleotide Gated Channels (CNGC) in plant-herbivore interaction and in regulating direct defense. We further use forward and reverse genetics approaches, biochemical techniques, metabolomics and imaging to expedite novel discoveries in plant defense against insect herbivory.
