Our lab has been studying the structures and functions of large molecular assemblies, such as bacterial flagella and muscle filaments, by combining the structural methods of X-ray diffraction and electron cryomicroscopy with single molecule nanophotometry to measure the dynamics of motor proteins. We also develop technology to visualize the 3D structures and dynamics of molecular assemblies by electron cryomicroscopy and fluorescence microscopy.
