My research focuses on how the microtubule cytoskeleton of African trypanosomes is built and contributes to shape, form and motility of these parasites. In addition I am interested in the molecular and cell biological mechanisms controlling antigenic variation in African trypanosomes. We have a particular focus on the mechanisms underpinning monoallelic expression of the many variable antigen genes.
