Genome evolution in yeast species

My lab works on genome evolution in eukaryotes, particularly yeast species. We study the evolution of chromosome organization: the molecular processes that cause the order of genes along a chromosome to be different in different species, and the evolution of chromosomal landmarks such as centromeres and telomeres. We are also interested in how systems of programmed DNA rearrangement, such as yeast mating-type switching, evolve.
