Our main interest is mitochondria biogenesis and function and its impact on health and disease. The process of mitochondria biogenesis relies on protein import as most mitochondrial proteins are targeted from the cytosol. We focus on proteins of the intermembrane space that undergo oxidative folding. We study the machinery, its molecular mechanism and structural basis and its relevance for redox homeostasis and cell physiology
