We study mechanisms of pathogenesis, immunity and drug tolerance in tuberculosis taking genetic, molecular, immunological and cell biological approaches. Much of our work focuses on using the zebrafish, particularly in its transparent larval stage, as a genetically tractable model organism. We have made discoveries about tuberculosis pathogenesis that have immediate implications for tuberculosis treatments.
