We aim to understand how neural stem cell populations can be maintained and active in the adult vertebrate brain. Using genetic and live imaging approaches in the teleost zebrafish, where neural stem cells are preserved in high numbers though life, we dissect molecular and cellular mechanisms of stemness, and address how the arrangement of neural stem cells in spatially organized germinal pools impacts these processes.
