My group aims at understanding how stress-induced transcriptional programs are regulated to maintain protein homeostasis. Our focus is on the distinct family members of the mammalian heat shock factors (HSFs) in the context of specific chromatin states, e.g. in mitosis, spermatogenesis and cancer cell invasion. We are exploring the post-translational modifications that direct the specificity of signaling pathways and target genes of HSFs.
