My lab investigates the basics of protein synthesis and its regulation under stress, both at the general as well as gene-specific levels. Our research focuses on understanding how ribosomes recognize where to start and stop translation. We are also interested in tRNAs promoting stop codon readthrough and various alternative genetic codes, the detailed knowledge of which could be used in the treatment of various genetic diseases.
