Our research aims at establishing fundamental concepts of endocytosis and intracellular trafficking. We have discovered retrograde trafficking between early endosomes and the Golgi apparatus, and demonstrated that protein-induced glycosphingolipid clustering acts as a driving force for membrane invagination in clathrin-independent endocytosis. We are also exploiting these discoveries for the development of innovative cancer therapy strategies.
