We study how diverse fungi perceive environmental signals and integrate them with circadian mechanisms to regulate organismal physiology and ecological interactions. By combining circadian biology, photobiology, and synthetic biology, we seek to uncover general principles governing organismal responses across time and space. We also pioneer optogenetic tools that enable optoecology; the use of light to study and manipulate community behavior.
