Chromatin, inflammation and cancer

We work on HMGB1, a chromatin protein which is also one of main soluble signals for the immune system. We want to understand and exploit (1) how HMGB1 controls the amount of histones and the packaging of DNA into nucleosomes, and (2) how HMGB1 modulates the repair of the damaged tissue, the onset of chronic inflammation, and tumor growth.

Keywords: Chromatin / epigenomics / gene expression / HMG-box proteins / HMGB1 / inflammation / tissue damage
