Our research focuses on the functional specialization of liver macrophages and on the cell-cell interactions with their niche, constituted of hepatocytes, stellate cells and endothelial cells. We are particularly interested in: (i) identifying the transcription factors that imprint the liver-specific identity, (ii) identifying the cell-cell circuits that maintain homeostasis and (iii) understanding the mechanisms that instruct liver regeneration.
