Macrophages display many phenotypes, reflecting the plasticity of these cells in response to microenvironmental signals. Nevertheless, little is known on how macrophages react to hypoxia, a condition characterizing many diseases such as cancer and ischemia. By expression and interactome analysis, combined with mouse genetic tools, we will identify how macrophages respond to hypoxia and thus unravel possible new targets for disease treatment.
