We are using Drosophila melanogaster as model system to investigate two basic problems in cell biology. We are analyzing the structure and the DNA binding activity of terminin, a Drosophila telomere-capping complex that is functionally analogous to human shelterin. In addition, we are dissecting the mechanisms of Drosophila spindle assembly, focusing on the factors that control kinetochore-driven microtubule growth.
