The research of myself and my colleagues primarily focusses on molecular mechanism of antibody gene diversification (immunoglobulin somatic hypermutaion and class-switch recombination) and extends into the wider contribution of enzyme-catalysed DNA deamination by AID/APOBEC proteins to genome instability and viral restriction. We are also interested in exploiting the antibody iterative maturation process for antibody/protein engineering purposes.
