The aim of our research is to understand the pathogenesis of cancer through analysis of cancer genomes. Our studies identify the mutated genes that confer selective advantage upon the cancer cell and provide insights into the mutagenic processes that are implicated in cancer causation. Knowledge of these mechanisms of variation and selection furthers understanding of the Darwinian evolutionary process of neoplastic cellular transformation.
