Our activity is focused on basic and translational research on epithelial stem cells. Basic research is focused on: culture and functional characterization of epithelial stem cells (epidermis, cornea, conjunctiva, urethra and oral mucosa); study of molecular mechanisms regulating self-renewal, proliferation and differentiation of squamous epithelial stem cells; new methodologies for gene correction and gene replacement in epithelial stem cells.
