My team is interested in molecular processes leading to chromosome instability, notably at common fragile sites (CFSs). CFSs are large chromosomal regions prone to breakage upon replication stress, considered a driving force of oncogenesis. Our recent results have revealed that CFS setting is tissue-dependent. We are now exploring how local replication dynamics, chromatin organisation and transcription of large genes nested in CFSs impact their stability, and which mechanisms are involved in formation, processing and repair of damage at CFSs.
