Human neuromuscular organoids to study disease

We use human pluripotent stem cells to develop advanced organoid models and study the normal and pathological development of the neuromuscular system. Our focus is to understand how specific types of spinal cord neurons and skeletal muscle cells are generated during development, how they interact and, intriguingly, how defects in early development of these tissues can lead to different predisposition to neuromuscular disease in the adult life.
