Biogenesis of the ER in mammalian cells

My group investigates various aspects of the biology of the mammalian endoplasmic reticulum. We have been particularly interested in characterizing post-translational insertion mechanisms of tail-anchored proteins and in transmembrane domain-dependent sorting of membrane proteins at the ER-Golgi interface. Another research line concerns the mechanisms by which the ER regulates its size and architecture in response to an altered load of either normal or disease-linked membrane proteins.
