Research in my laboratory is focused on understanding how pathogenic fungi cause diseases in plants. We are interested in developmental biology of plant infection and how plants respond to fungal attack. Specifically, we study rice blast disease caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae, one of the world's most devastating crop diseases. Current projects investigate cell cycle control, autophagy, septins, and the functions of fungal effectors.
