My research focuses on molecular phylogenetics and evolution, developing and applying models and data analysis techniques to study biomedical questions with emphasis on mathematical and statistical rigour. In addition, my biotechnology work has enhanced Next Generation Sequencing technologies and contributed to the establishment of the research field of 'nucleic acid memory': the use of DNA for digital information storage.
