My group studies extremophilic and polyextremotolerant fungi that thrive under low water activity, high salinity, chaotropic stress, and cold environments. We combine ecology, genomics, physiology, and experimental evolution to understand fungal adaptation at the limits of life, from hypersaline salterns and glaciers to indoor extreme environments and opportunistic pathogens.
