Ion channels in cardiac function

My group is particularly interested in the association of ion channel mutations and cardiac arrhythmias. Recently, we focussed on gain-of-function mutations in a Ca-activated non-selective ion channel (TRPM4) linked with a cardiac bundle branch disorder giving rise to cardiac conduction block. We characterize the mutations in a multidisciplinary approach and how they affect a novel SUMO-signalling pathway that regulates TRPM4 channel function.
