My group tackles the unresolved question how neurons communicate in our brain and how the process of neuronal transmission is disrupted in neuronal disease, with a special emphasis on Parkinson's disease. Our discoveries have led to several new drug targets and collaborations, but most of all they have inspired a new generation of researchers that have emerged from my lab who are continuing this mission at leading institutions around the globe.
