My lab is interested in understanding how viruses manipulate the host immune system. We use unbiased genetic and proteomic approaches to uncover novel virus-host interactions such as resistance factors of HIV. Our recent discovery of the 'Human Silencing Hub' (HUSH) complex, a novel epigenetic repressor complex that assembles H3K9me3 heterochromatin, explains how the host silences newly integrated retroviruses and mobile endogenous retrotransposons.
