Stem cells and regeneration during aging
Our lab focuses on how stem cells balance the generation of specialized cells via differentiation with generation of new stem cells. During aging stem cell capacity declines, which compromises tissue maintenance and repair. Our goal is to understand why stem cell activity deteriorates with age, and to develop stem-cell based strategies targeting aging-related diseases and ailments.
