We are interested in important subtleties of chromatin-based gene and genome regulation in fruit flies. One major topic is on how ATP-dependent nucleosome sliding factors integrate into organismic development and the DNA damage response. Our second passion is to understand how male fruit flies cope with the fact that they only have one X chromosome by selective doubling the transcription of X chromosomal genes.
