Epigenetic mechanisms evolve remarkably rapidly across different species. Intriguingly, this diversity is recapitulated in cancer cells, where mutations in epigenetic regulators are frequently observed. My research group is fascinated by this diversity. We are studying what drives the evolution of epigenetic mechanisms across species and in cancer. Our work provides novel insights into the molecular functions of epigenetic pathways.
